About Subvention
Built so funding is found, not lost.
UK and European grant funding is scattered across hundreds of separate websites — central government, the devolved nations, local councils, the National Lottery, EU programmes and dozens of sector-specific bodies. Each has its own portal, its own rules and its own deadlines. The result is that most organisations miss funding they were genuinely eligible for, simply because nobody told them it existed. Subvention exists to close that gap.
One search across everything
Subvention is a single search across UK government, lottery, devolved and European funding — 49 sources in total, refreshed daily. Instead of checking each site by hand, you enter your company name once and we match live grants to your organisation using your real Companies House profile: your sector, your region, your size and your status. Every match comes back ranked, with a plain-English reason it was selected, eligibility ticks for sector, region and size, and any risk flags.
Traceable by design
We built Subvention around one principle: never show a result you can't trust. Every grant card links to the original page on the funder's own website, with the date we last fetched it. Matching and scoring are deterministic — we show you exactly which signals drove each match, so nothing is a black box. Artificial intelligence is used only to enrich descriptions and, if you choose, to draft application answers from your profile for you to review and approve. AI is never asked to find or invent grants, and nothing is ever submitted to a funder without you clicking approve.
Who it's for
Subvention serves the full range of UK applicants: limited companies and SMEs, sole traders, startups, and — on the community side — charities, CICs, clubs and community groups. The same search covers business grants and community funding, colour-coded by the region each grant applies to so the right ones stand out instantly.
How we make money
We don't take a cut of any funding you receive, and we don't hide the basic search behind a signup wall. Grant search and eligibility matching are free, forever. We only charge for optional, one-off time-limited passes that add tools — alerts, deadline reminders, saved grants and application planning — for the weeks you're actively applying. There's no auto-renew and no lock-in.
Grants change frequently — always confirm eligibility, amounts and deadlines with the funder via the linked source. Subvention is a search and matching service, not a funder, and does not guarantee funding.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Subvention free to use?
- Yes. Searching for grants and checking your eligibility are free with no time limit. Optional one-off passes (30 or 90 days, no auto-renew) add alerts, reminders, saved grants and application tools when you're actively applying.
- Where does Subvention's grant data come from?
- From 49 official sources, including GOV.UK Find a Grant, Innovate UK, UKRI, the British Business Bank, National Lottery funds, the devolved agencies and European programmes. Every result links to the funder's own page with the date we last checked it.
- Does Subvention guarantee I'll get funding?
- No. Subvention is a search and matching service, not a funder. We help you find and organise grants you may be eligible for, but eligibility and award decisions always rest with the funding provider.
- Who can use Subvention?
- Businesses of all sizes, sole traders and startups, as well as charities, CICs, clubs and community groups. One search covers both business and community funding.
- Does AI decide which grants I see?
- No. Matching and scoring are deterministic and explained. AI only enriches descriptions and can draft application text you review — it never finds or invents grants.
